As a transactional attorney and the proprietor of The Carter Law Firm, PC, Uwonda Carter Scott, advises clients on corporate affairs, commercial transactions and entertainment matters. In her corporate practice, Uwonda counsels companies on their professional development, drafts and negotiates various corporate documents related to their business formation and advancement, including joint venture and partnership agreements.

Uwonda is also a prominent attorney in the field of entertainment with clients in every aspect of entertainment and media, including music, television, motion pictures, book publishing, fashion and branding. The Carter Law Firm’s entertainment roster currently includes television personalities and film production companies, recording artists, music producers, songwriters, authors, comedians and entertainment industry executives. 

Uwonda began her legal career as a Staff Attorney for the City of New York's Human Resources Administration’s Consumer, Business and Commercial Law Division and also taught for several years as an Adjunct Professor teaching Business Law at Clark Atlanta University and the University of Phoenix.


As a respected attorney in the business and entertainment industries, Uwonda was named Entertainment Lawyer of the Year by BESLA in 2017 and was honored by ASCAP’s Women Behind The Music series in 2011.  She has also been featured in Billboard Magazine, Rolling Out, and Atlanta Tribune.


Since 2000, Uwonda has been a frequent lecturer and panelist at many conferences and seminars, nationally and abroad, speaking on business development, the entertainment industry and intellectual property litigation. She is a member of the State Bar of Georgia and New York State Bar Association, and for six years, served as the Entertainment Vice-Chair for the Entertainment and Sports Law Section of the State Bar of Georgia.
